SArah, inc.

OPPORTUNITY:

In 2007, SARAH Inc.'s management noticed that the organization's positive public image had retreated to the shadows in recent years. The new executive director wanted to re-energize and update the image of the organization. Founded in 1957, SARAH -- a 40-town agency -- provides support services and advocacy for children and adults with intellectual and other disabilities and their families.

SOLUTION:

First, Puffer PR conducted an in-depth study of recreational and leisure services in the more heavily populated SARAH Inc. participant towns. This included assessing what collaborative programs might exist for SARAH participants as well as gauging the level of understanding the community held about the current SARAH Inc. offerings. Programs studied and key interviews conducted included public, town, and school-based programs. An outcome of the study was a realization that the SARAH Inc. name and current programs needed a new look and Puffer PR was hired to create the updated image. A full range of profiles was developed to depict employment, child, and recreation and leisure services. Media relations is following on the heels of the new cases with a spotlight on the SARAH Inc. people served.
